Divide ground beef into 4 equal portions and shape into patties, about 1/2 inch thick. Press your thumb in the center of each patty to prevent it from bulging while cooking.
Season patties with salt and pepper.
Cook patties for 4-5 minutes per side, or until desired doneness (160°F internal temperature).
Toast hamburger buns on the grill or skillet for 1-2 minutes.
Assemble burgers with toppings and condiments of your choice.
